So, where does that put the most effective book critic in the U.K.: 'I don't think newspapers exist in order to sell books for me, of course, but if a newspaper reviews a book that then sells only 20 copies in the following week, then it means they have reviewed something their readers have no interest in reading. I don't see the point of that.'
